It is only possible to close a position or trade during the relevant instrument’s trading hours. Occasionally, instruments might be temporarily unavailable for trading due to market events that restrict price feeds. This can happen because of extreme volatility, low liquidity, or underlying market suspensions.
Here are some common reasons and solutions if you are unable to close open order:
Market Hours: Trying to close an order outside the market’s trading hours will not work. This includes weekends or daily breaks for the instrument.
Solution: Wait until the market reopens to close the order.
Visual Bugs or Connectivity Issues: Sometimes, visual bugs or connectivity problems can make it seem like an order isn't closing.
Solution: Close and reopen your trading terminal to check if the order is still open.
One-Click Trading Preferences: If you usually use one-click trading, you might expect orders to close instantly. If this setting is off, you may need to confirm the closing order action.
Solution: Check and adjust your one-click trading settings in your trading terminal.
Hedged Orders: Hedged orders can prevent closure due to high margin requirements. Closing one side of a hedged order can make the remaining order subject to new margin calculations, possibly preventing closure due to insufficient free margin.
Solution: Ensure you have enough free margin available before trying to close the order again.
