What is an Index?

Updated over 3 months ago

An index is a collection of assets representing a specific financial market or segment. By investing in an index, you gain exposure to a broad range of stocks and bonds through a single trade, reducing the risk associated with individual investments.

Indices serve as benchmarks for the overall financial market or specific sectors. For example, US30, also known as the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), is a stock market index that measures the performance of 30 large, publicly-owned companies in the United States.

FNmarkets offers the option to invest in indices through contracts for difference (CFDs).
