How do I get log files from my desktop?

Updated over 3 months ago

Log files in MT5 are detailed text files (.log) that contain information about starting the terminal, placing and removing orders, errors, warnings, indicator installations, expert advisors, and server connections. These log files provide more detail than the "Journal" tab and are useful for examining order execution.

To access and download log files from the desktop MT5 terminal:

• Open the terminal.
• Click 'File' and select 'Open Data Folder.'
• Open the 'Logs' folder to find the log file. Each day has its own log file, so pick the one you need.

To understand how to open a log file for Expert Advisor logs:

• Follow the same steps, but after selecting 'Open Data Folder,' go to 'MQL5' and then 'Logs.'

Please note that expert advisors cannot be utilized on the MetaTrader 5 mobile app.
