Terminal Account/Authorization Failed

Updated this week

If you encounter an Authorization Failed error on your MT5 platform, here are some common causes and solutions:

1. Incorrect MT5 Login Number: You might be using the wrong account number.

Double-check your account number in the original welcome email you received when you opened your account.

2. Incorrect Password: The password entered may be incorrect.
Verify your password with the welcome email. If needed, reset your password using one of the following methods:

• Reset Password via Client Portal: To reset your MT5 password, go to the 'Account Summary' section in the client portal. Click the 'Change' button next to your MT5 password under Account Details. You will be prompted to enter your current password and set a new one for your desired MT5 account.

• Reset via MT5 Platform (Laptop only):
1. Open your MT5 platform.
2. Go to Tools > Options.
3. Under the Server tab, click the Change button.
4. Enter your current master password.
5. Click Change Master Password, then enter and confirm your new master password.

3. Incorrect Server: You may have selected the wrong server. To fix server-related authorization issues, follow these steps on a laptop:

1. Go to File > Open an Account.
2. Scroll down the server list and click the green (+) button.
3. Enter the correct server name.
4. Click Scan and select the correct server.
5. Click Next and enter your MT5 login ID and password.
6. Click Finish.

4. Additional Troubleshooting: If the issue persists after trying the steps above, confirm your credentials with FNmarkets support for assistance.
